Book Review #16: Soulless

Book Review Soulless by Gail Carriger

soulless-gail-carriger-book-coverWelcome to our sixteenth episode of our video podcast the Izzie & Coco Book Review Show. This is a special episode as it is the first show with a guest! We welcome Amy from Reel Pages Bite (reelpagesbite.com) to review Soulless by Gail Carriger. Soulless is the first book of the series The Parasol Protectorate. We love this series. It’s one of our favorite paranormal romance book series. This steampunk novel is set in London during Victorian times. The main character, Alexia Tabarotti is a preternatural, which means she is soulless in a world where supernatural creatures have excess soul. Her state of lack of soul also gives her the power of neutralizing supernatural creatures like vampires and werewolves. As long as Alexia maintains contact with supernaturals, they become human. Alexia gets tied up in a murder investigation and vampires seem to be appearing around London without being claimed by a hive or trained in social etiquette. Alexia must navigate these dangerous waters and deal with the unrefined alpha of the London Pack Lord Maccoon.

Gail Carriger develops a cast of amazing characters that will leave you wanting to know more about them. We recommend this book and series with a resounding YAY! Let us know what you thought! Remember to leave us a comment, we love hearing from our readers/viewers. If you found a book you love because of our recommendations or share an absolute love or hate for a book, tell us! Our next selection is the book: Wing Girl by Nic Tatano. We will be posting our review soon!
